Now that summer is coming, what better way to spend a nice afternoon than with a couple of friends drinking some refreshing Spanish Sangria?
Invite some people over to your place and surprise them with this simple yet tasty drink.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
- 1 bottle (750ml) of red wine
- 250ml of fresh orange juice
- 100 ml of water
- 1 Orange cut into wedges
- 1 Apple cut into cubes
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 3 Tbsp of sugar
- 1 shot of Brandy (Rum, Vodka or Gin can also work)
Gently heat the water, but don’t boil it. You just want it hot enough to dissolve the sugar and take more of the flavour from the cinnamon, (yeah, so now add them both). Add the apples and the orange wedges making sure there’s no pips or seeds. Stir in the juice, the wine, and a shot of your liquor of choice. Give it a gentle stir and stick it in the fridge for an hour to cool down. And that’s it!
I think that sangria is best served as cold as it can be over ice, to make it that more refreshing! Enjoy!
Why not try adding some pineapple or peach juice? My Spanish aunt always put kiwis and strawberries in hers. Or for a more citrus twist, add the peel of a couple of limes.
